Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers would undoubtedly love Rob Gronkowski to come out of a retirement for a second time, but it’s obviously highly unlikely to happen.
The future Hall of Famer announced his retirement for a second time back in June. Many wondered if “Gronk” would eventually rejoin the Buccaneers for another Super Bowl championship quest, but there are no indicators that he’s actually planning on playing again.
But if there’s one person who might be able to convince Gronkowski to come back, it’s Brady. And during the latest edition of his “Let’s Go” podcast (h/t Dustin Lewis of BucsGameday from Sports Illustrated), the seven-time Super Bowl champion explained the hilarious idea he has for getting Gronk to come back:
“I’ve heard the only thing you’re allowed to drink on the sideline at these German games is beer. I actually tried to recruit Gronk back just for this game in particular. Hopefully, he goes for it.”
On Sunday, Brady and the Buccaneers will play the NFC West-leading Seattle Seahawks at Allianz Arena in Munich, Germany as part of the NFL International Series. This will be the first-ever NFL game to be held in Germany.
Brady and the Buccaneers were widely expected to boast one of the NFL’s top offenses again in 2022, but that simply hasn’t been the case. The interior offensive line has struggled mightily, and the rushing game has been a non-factor. The team is also missing Gronk’s play-making abilities, especially in the red zone.
Despite missing five games last season, Gronkowski posted 55 receptions for 802 yards and six touchdowns. His numbers weren’t as strong in the 2020 season, but he did haul in two touchdown receptions in the team’s Super Bowl 55 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs.

Brady and the Buccaneers enter Week 10 with a 4-5 record, but the good news is that they currently sit atop the NFC South, with the Atlanta Falcons losing back-to-back games and the New Orleans Saints falling to the Baltimore Ravens on Monday.
