Tom Brady didn’t exactly leave the Tampa Bay Buccaneers high and dry, but they were hoping he would stick around first least one more run at a championship.
The 45-year-old has instead opted to call it quits and, while the rumors linking him with a return are plenty, none of them suggest a return to the Bucs. Speculation over a possible comeback and move to the Miami Dolphins was rife last week after Rich Eisen claimed to have heard as much while at the NFL Scouting Combine, but the Dolphins have put an end to all of that with their latest move at QB.
The Bucs looking for a new quarterback to fill the Brady-sized void in their backfield. And, according to Ian Rapoport and Mike Garofolo of the NFL Network, they’ve set their sights on Baker Mayfield, who would be the only QB on their roster with starting experience should the move come to fruition.
Mayfield played for both the Carolina Panthers and Los Angeles Rams last term, playing in seven games for the former and completing just 57.8 percent of his passes before he was released.
The Rams signed him to a deal and his performance immediately improved as he passed for 850 yards and four touchdowns on 63.6 percent passing in five games for the former Super Bowl champions.

It’s thought that a deal with the Bucs could potentially be reached this week.
