New Carolina Panthers quarterback Bryce Young has revealed how he made some extra cash as a college freshman before NIL came into play.
Young, who was selected as the No. 1 overall pick out of Alabama this year, told ESPN this week that he worked as a driver for DoorDash.
In an effort not to be recognized, the 2021 Heisman Trophy winner would wear a hoodie and a mask and would only accept orders that needed to be dropped at the door.
“Honestly, I would only have a mask on and a hoodie and I would only accept drop-it-at-my-door orders,” he said at training camp on Tuesday. For the most part, I never got recognized.
“It was before NIL. I just wanted to have a little extra money.”
The NCAA’s NIL rules which allow college players to earn money for their names, image, and likeness, took effect on July 2021. Young was one of the athletes who made the most money as he earned a reported $3.5 million from endorsements with companies such as Nissan, Dr. Pepper, and Subway.

We expect him to land a deal with DoorDash after his revelation.
The new NFL QB has signed a rookie contract worth $37.95 million with the Panthers and also got a $24,6 million signing bonus. So he’s not going to have to approach doors masked up anymore unless he wants to.
