Even Cleveland Browns players knew they had a chance to win the ball game if their QB was not allowed to throw it so much.
The Cleveland Browns took a massive hit to their playoff hopes on Saturday when htey lost in heartbreaking fashion to the Green Bay Packers. Not helping matters was Baker Mayfield completing four passes to the opposing team, which included a late one in the fourth quarter that put the final nail in their coffin.
Browns’ safety John Johnson III, who out for the game due to a hamstring injury, took to Twitter and stated emphatically, “RUN THE DAMN BALL!!!” after Mayfield’s second interception of the game:
Baker Mayfield admitted afterward that he let his teammates down after throwing four interceptions in Saturday’s 24-22 loss to the Green Bay Packers.
“I hurt this team,” Mayfield said. “That’s the most frustrating thing for me because I thought our defense played tremendous against a really, really good offense. But when you turn the ball over … and give them extra opportunities, they’re gonna take advantage of it. They just who they are.”
Browns coach Kevin Stefanski said he didn’t consider making a quarterback change at halftime after Mayfield tossed three interceptions. He will also remain the QB going forward.
