Baker Mayfield is entering his second season with the Cleveland Browns and the former No. 1 overall NFL Draft pick is showing that he has the intangibles to be a vocal leader.
The Cleveland Browns quarterback reportedly “blew up” at his wide receivers following a failed scramble drill on Saturday. It rant was said to have included several F-bombs that were loud enough for spectators to hear.
Cleveland.com has the details:
“Baker Mayfield chewed out his receivers after a failed scramble drill during Saturday’s practice — complete with a thundering F-bomb that reverberated throughout the practice fields.
It was so loud that some observers thought it must have been a coach. But no, it Mayfield bellowing at his receivers to come back to the ball when the protection broke down.”
Head coach Freddie Kitchens didn’t seem to have any problems with it at all. In fact, he encouraged it.
“I don’t know if they responded to him or not, but yeah, I expect my quarterback to get everybody on the same page,’’ he said. “That’s what I want.”
The Browns begin the 2019 preseason on Aug. 8 against Washington.
