Myles Garrett was recently named a pro bowler for the 2021 season, but he is unfortunately in jeopardy of missing his first game of the season.
Garrett suffered a groin injury against the Las Vegas Raiders and was not 100% toward the end of the game. Browns’ head coach Kevin Stefanski spoke to the media and revealed that an MRI on Garrett revealed a groin injury.
“We’re just going to have to work through it,” Stefanski said. “He has an injury there… We’ll see. I’ll get my eyes on him today and we’ll see how it goes.”
His status for Cleveland’s Saturday night game against the Green Bay Packers is up in the air at this point.
Losing Garrett would be extremely huge considering the team needs everybody they can to try and stop Aaron Rodgers as ell as get a much needed win.
On top of his injury is the Browns defensive end dealing with the effects of the coronavirus. Garrett’s lungs still aren’t working the way they were before he was infected and he’s not sure when they will recover.

“I am not sure. I am just getting over a coughing fit from the locker room earlier,” Garrett said via the team website. “Taking those deep big breaths are tough right now with the shortness of breath and that turning into a cough or getting choked up. You just have to find a way. . . . Hopefully, if we make it to the playoffs, I can try to get myself to as close to 100 percent as possible.”
Kevin Stefanski said they’re aware of Garrett’s issues and are trying to manage that as much as possible: “We’ve been mindful of that. He’s battling through it. We’ll continue to be smart.”
With the loss against the Raiders, the Browns fell to 7-7 and 12th in the AFC playoff picture. The former No. 1 overall pick has 48 tackles and 15 sacks through 14 games.
