The Cleveland Browns are through to the playoffs on the back of Joe Flacco’s heroics, but they aren’t prepared to take any chances and have reportedly signed another quarterback just in case something happens to their new star.
According to the Akron Beacon Journal’s Chris Easterling, the Browns have picked Jeff Driskel up off the Arizona Cardinals practice squad, with the player coming in as an additional backup option.
With Dorian Thompson-Robinson out for the season with a hip injury, PJ Walker was the sole backup to Flacco. Given the latest developments, the team has decided to bring someone else in as extra security.
Driskel has been in the NFL since 2018, having started 11 of 23 games. He’s been involved in just one win, however, throwing for 2,228 yards, 14 touchdowns, and eight interceptions over the course of his career.
He hasn’t made a single appearance this season, even having been part of a Cardinals team that has been very QB-needy.
Flacco, on the other hand, has gone 4-1 since joining the Browns. Having fired them to the playoffs, it will be interesting to see how he fares there.
