The older brother of Washington Football Team defensive end Montez Sweat was tragically shot and killed on Tuesday, according to multiple reports.
27-year-old Anthony Sweat was killed in a shooting Tuesday evening in Henrico County, according to Crime Insider sources.
Reports state while some people ran away after hearing the shots, others remained on the scene the help render aid, but it was too late. Sweat was pronounced dead at the scene. He was the only victim of the gunfire.
Montez Sweat was not at practice today following the death of his brother.
“It is rough, and our thoughts and prayers are with the families,” Washington head coach Ron Rivera said, via Richmond.com. “We try to make sure that players understand that we’re here for them. We do have a team psychologist and she’s available, as well as myself (and the other coaches). … We’re there for them.”
Sweat, a 2019 first-round pick of WFT, recently returned to the lineup after missing nearly two months with a broken jaw.

For the season, he has 24 tackles and five sacks in 10 games.
