The running joke about Chargers fans not existing has been going on since the team moved from San Diego to the Los Angeles area. It was proven time and time again as the team would essentially play 16 away games every year since opposing fan bases would come in and take over their stadium.
Now, even former Chargers players are getting in on the action.
Former Chargers running back Melvin Gordon recently trashed the fan base during a radio interview when posed with the question of playing in a stadium filled with 60,000+ empty seats.
“Bro, we didn’t have fans anyway,” Gordon said about Los Angeles Chargers fans.
Gordon’s shot at the fans is likely more due to him not receiving the long-term deal that he wanted from the franchise last season. Once that didn’t happen, Gordon decided to take his talents to a division rival in the Denver Broncos.
He signed a two-year contract with the Broncos, where he’ll suit up against the Chargers twice per season.
