It appears the Denver Broncos aren’t fully sold on Russell Wilson despite the appointment of Sean Payton as their head coach earlier this year.
Wilson had a regrettable first season in Denver, absolutely bombing in 2022. And the offseason hasn’t been any kinder as recent reports have revealed he tried to get his former coach and GM fired, while he’s had to address claims he misused funds from his charity.
The veteran quarterback is now under added pressure given his new team’s latest signing.
According to the NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Broncos are set to sign former Las Vegas Raiders QB Jarrett Stidham to a two-year deal worth $10 million, half of which will be guaranteed.
The Raiders allowed Stidham an opportunity to start the last couple of games in 2022 after benching Derek Carr. Apparently, he didn’t do enough to be retained, having passed for 584 yards, four touchdowns, and three interceptions.

Carr has since signed for the New Orleans Saints while Vegas is said to be adding Jimmy Garoppolo.
Stidham was drafted by the New England Patriots in 2019 before getting traded to the Raiders last season. Following speculation over possibly competing for the starting job in Vegas next season, he is now headed to Denver to play backup to Wilson, though he could end up competing for QB1 status over there.
Stidham is also reported to be close with Broncos quarterbacks coach Davis Webb.
