Broncos general manager George Paton was not going to take the bait when he was asked about the Chiefs trading Tyreek Hill.
Paton spoke to Mike Klis of 9News and confirmed that the Chiefs are still a great threat until Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes leave.
“Until they trade the quarterback and head coach I’m not going to worry about that too much,” Paton said. “He’s a great player. They still have a lot of good weapons. They have one of the best coaches and one of the best quarterbacks. They set the standard and we have a long way to go.”
Just because the Chiefs abruptly traded Hill to the Dolphins earlier this week, doesn’t mean Denver is taking any victory laps. The Chiefs are a team that have six straight divisional titles, two Super Bowl appearances, and one Lombardi Trophy since 2016. Hill terrorized the Broncos over that span, catching 46 passes for 492 yards, and eight receiving touchdowns in 11 career meetings.
Denver has lost 13 straight consecutive games to the Chiefs, the last victory coming before Hill turned pro.
Things may be looking up for the team after trading QB Russell Wilson.

He can very well be the main piece that they’ve been missing since Peyton Manning retired in March of 2016.
