Brock Purdy is not okay.
Brock Purdy has landed in the league’s protocol after exhibiting concussion-like symptoms following Monday night’s loss, head coach Kyle Shanahan stated to reporters on Wednesday.
Purdy started having concussion-like symptoms on the plane ride home following San Francisco’s 22-17 Monday night loss to the Minnesota Vikings. In the loss, Purdy completed 21 of 30 passes for 272 yards, one touchdown, and two fourth-quarter interceptions.
We are now seeing the exact moment when he suffered that concussion. It came during a QB sneak as he took a shot to the head from a Minnesota Vikings defensive player.
Purdy is now unlikely to play on Sunday, as no NFL player has been placed into concussion protocol this season and played the same week. It would be the first missed game of his career since he was named a starter in Week 14 last season.
Brock lost his first game as a starter this year and then lost a second one this past week as the team is now dealing with a slew of injuries.

If Purdy can’t play, the Niners will likely turn to veteran backup Sam Darnold, who has backed up Purdy since he won the job out of training camp over the now-Dallas Cowboys backup Trey Lance.
