A video of San Francisco 49ers’ quarterback Brock Purdy committing a giant stiff-arm in high school has made its way around Twitter.
On Thursday night, Purdy led the 49ers to a 21-13 win over the archrival Seattle Seahawks at Lumen Field. The win clinched the NFC West division for the 49ers (their first since 2019), and it moved them to 10-4 on the season.
Purdy was one of the main talking points on NFL Twitter throughout Thursday evening. So much so that the Twitter account @_MLFootball even shared a clip of Purdy dishing out a filthy stiff-arm to one of his opponents in a high school football game:

The two-time First-team All-Big 12 selection played high school football at Perry High School in Gilbert, Arizona before enjoying a successful full-year run with the Iowa State Cyclones.
Purdy was this year’s “Mr. Irrelevant”, the nickname given to the NFL player who’s selected last in the draft each year. But the Iowa State product certainly isn’t playing like someone who was taken in the seventh round.

The 22-year-old looks like a seasoned veteran out there for San Francisco. He had a field day in his first career start against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday, leading the 49ers to a 35-7 blowout win over Tom Brady and the visitors.
In that game, Purdy completed 16 of 21 pass attempts for 185 yards, two passing touchdowns, one rushing touchdown and no interceptions. On Thursday night against Seattle, Purdy completed 17 of 26 pass attempts for 217 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
The 49ers lost starting quarterback Trey Lance for the season in Week 2 after he suffered an ankle fracture. 11 weeks later, Jimmy Garoppolo suffered a foot injury that will likely keep him out for the rest of 2022 as well.
They may be down to their third-stringer, but the 49ers look everything like a Super Bowl contender with Purdy running the offense.
