The San Francisco 49ers are in some trouble.
The team has lost two games in a row and now they have major injury news for yet another player on the team.
San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy is currently in the league’s concussion protocol, head coach Kyle Shanahan told reporters on Wednesday.
Purdy began experiencing concussion-like symptoms on the flight back to San Francisco following Monday night’s 22-17 loss to the Minnesota Vikings at U.S. Bank Stadium.
If Purdy is unable to play in Week 8, veteran Sam Darnold would be in line to start Sunday’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals.
This is bad news for a team that was without standout WR Deebo Samuel last week and saw Christian McCaffrey leave the game against the Cleveland Browns with an oblique injury.

The 49ers are 5-2 after starting the year undefeated at 5-0. As you know, injuries can derail any team. The Niners keep getting hit on offense and Purdy could be the latest. It will be difficult for him to clear protocol in time to play this week as they head for a huge game against the Cincinnati Bengals.
