The San Francisco 49ers won’t be without Brock Purdy on Sunday after all.
On Saturday afternoon, the 49ers announced that the second-year quarterback “has cleared concussion protocol and has no injury designation”. Purdy is now good to go for Week 8 against the Cincinnati Bengals.
Purdy suffered a concussion in the 49ers’ Monday night road game against the Minnesota Vikings, though he still finished the game. The final draft pick of the 2022 class entered concussion protocol this week, putting his status for Week 8 in doubt.
But Purdy was cleared in plenty of time ahead of Sunday’s highly-anticipated bout with Joe Burrow’s Bengals at Levi’s Stadium. This contest features last year’s Conference Championship runner-ups, as the 49ers and Bengals were eliminated by the Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs, respectively.
The 23-year-old Purdy has completed 67.9 percent of his pass attempts for 1,668 yards and 11 touchdowns against three interceptions. Purdy won his first 10 regular season starts dating back to last year, but the 49ers fell to the Cleveland Browns in Week 6 before losing to Minnesota on Monday night.
Kyle Shanahan and the 49ers (5-2) are one game behind the Eagles (6-1) for the NFC’s top seed and only first-round bye.

After hosting the Bengals, the 49ers will enter their Week 9 bye before traveling to Duval County for a Week 10 showdown against Trevor Lawrence’s Jacksonville Jaguars.
