The shooting at Wednesday’s Super Bowl parade has undoubtedly changed the lives of thousands of people, whether they got hit with bullets or not. It was truly a traumatizing scene for everybody who was forced to run for their lives as they had no clue where the gunfire was coming from.
Brittany Mahomes, co-owner of the Kansas City Current soccer team and wife of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, called the mass shooting following the team’s Super Bowl celebration Wednesday “devastating.”
She took to her Instagram story to speak out after one person died and at least 22 were injured in the shooting near Union Station in Kansas City.
“Highly embarrassed and disappointed in this. Super Bowl wins will never be the same because of this, it’s devastating,” Mahomes wrote, via the New York Post.
“Lives lost and people injured during something that was suppose to be a celebration. Horrible and traumatizing. So many prayers going to the families involved.”
Three suspects were apprehended by police, with one reportedly subdued by a courageous Chiefs fan as seen in a video. A woman nearby would pick up that person’s weapon and take it to the police.
Prior to the gunfire, Patrick and Brittany shared moments from the parade route while riding on a double-decker bus. Amidst the cheers of thousands of Chiefs fans celebrating the team’s Super Bowl victory, the couple was captured dancing and enjoying the festivities.
