Brittany Mahomes, the wife of Kansas City Chiefs’ quarterback Patrick Mahomes, couldn’t help but laugh at how empty State Farm Stadium was ahead of the club’s preseason game against the Arizona Cardinals on Saturday.
On her Instagram story, Mahomes posted a video of the near-empty stadium with a caption that read, “There ain’t a single person in here”, with laughing and facepalm emojis:
Three hours later, Mahomes posted a video of a far-more packed State Farm Stadium with a caption stating that she was “too early” with another laughing emoji. Per ESPN, the game drew a strong attendance of 62,190, filling up 96 percent of the stadium’s capacity.
The Chiefs went on to win the contest 38-10, with Patrick completing 10 of 15 pass attempts for 105 yards and a touchdown. Backup Blaine Gabbert also performed well with seven completions on eight pass attempts for 120 yards, two touchdowns and zero picks.
Kansas City, looking to become the first team to repeat as Super Bowl champions since the 2003 and ’04 New England Patriots, will open their 2023 season with a home game against the Detroit Lions on Sept. 10.
