According to reports, the Los Angeles Rams wanted Brian Burns in the worst way. In fact, they reportedly offered multiple first-round picks to the Carolina Panthers for the pass rusher.
According to Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated:
“The usual suspects have been in pursuit. The Rams have been looking for a pass rusher to replace the production they lost with Von Miller’s departure, have first-rounders in 2024 and ’25, and already made a substantial offer for Burns.”
The Rams previously traded away their 2023 first to the Lions in the deal that landed them Matthew Stafford. The Rams have made it clear that they want to win another Super Bowl this year, even if that means giving up valuable picks like they were willing to do for Christian McCaffrey and Burns.
Burns is in the fourth year of his rookie deal and the team exercised the fifth-year option on the pass rusher, which would pay him $16,012,000 in 2023.

If the Panthers did turn down two firsts for Burns, it’ll be hard for any team to come in and snag him if two first-rounders weren’t enough to send him packing.
Despite their play the last two weeks, the Panthers won’t be playoff competitive for at least a couple more years, so the team has to decide if they want to build around Burns or send him packing elsewhere to help in their rebuild.
