Carolina Panthers’ superstar pass-rusher Brian Burns is one of the top names to follow in the trade rumor mill leading up to the Oct. 31 deadline.
You may recall that a year ago, the Panthers turned down a lucrative offer from the Los Angeles Rams for their star player. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Rams offered two firsts plus a second-rounder for the FSU product.
Burns is entering the final year of his rookie contract. Curiously, the 0-4 Panthers were unable to extend Burns before the start of the year, and one can only wonder if GM Scott Fitterer will look to to deal Burns rather than risk losing him for nothing in 2024 free agency.
If the Panthers end up shopping Burns, Sean McDermott’s Buffalo Bills should have Fitterer’s number on speed dial. Burns is exactly the type of player the Bills need to help them get over the hump in another championship-or-bust season.
Gregory Rousseau and Von Miller co-led the Bills in sacks last year with eight apiece. Miller is 34 and has yet to play this season as he continues to recover from a torn ACL he suffered last year.
If Miller isn’t healthy for the postseason, the Bills simply won’t have a game-changing pass-rusher to help them in January. They need a player like Burns to deal with the likes of Patrick Mahomes, Joe Burrow, Tua Tagovailoa and Lamar Jackson in the postseason.

Buffalo’s window to win is now, so they should go all-in for Burns and offer the Panthers their 2024 first and second-round picks plus a 2025 third-rounder. Burns, Miller and Rousseau would instantly form a prolific pass-rushing trio that could finally push this team the rest of the way.
For Carolina, this move would let them recoup much-needed draft capital after sacrificing a king’s ransom to trade up for the No. 1 overall pick that was used on Bryce Young.
