Brett Favre announced Tuesday while testifying on Capitol Hill at a hearing about alleged welfare misspending that he was “recently diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease.”
It was a shocking revelation that nobody saw coming amid his issues.
The retired NFL quarterback, who played for the Green Bay Packers, New York Jets, and Minnesota Vikings, revealed the news while appearing before a Republican-led House Ways and Means Committee hearing on welfare abuses.
“Sadly, I also lost an investment in a company that I believed was developing a breakthrough concussion drug I thought would help others,” Favre said. “And I’m sure you’ll understand why it’s too late for me because I’ve recently been diagnosed with Parkinson’s. This is also a cause dear to my heart.”
Hours after announcing his disease, Brett Favre took to social media to message his fans.
“First, I want to thank God for all He has done in my life. Next, thanks to Congress for giving me the platform to discuss a much-needed TANF reform,” Favre wrote on social media. “As you know, I was recently diagnosed w/Parkinson’s which has been an ordeal. My wife, family, and friends have been supportive, and I want to thank them for being there for me. To my fans and those wishing well — thank you all for the love.”

The state of Mississippi is currently suing Brett Favre over the receipt of funds that had been intended for poor women and children.
He’s also been accused of trying to redirect welfare funds to his alma mater.
Favre has not been charged with any crimes related to the welfare scheme.
Brett Favre Thinks He’s “Been Unjustly Smeared in the Media”
Brett Favre testified before Congress this week about a welfare fraud scandal he’s been involved in for years.
He is not facing any charges, and he has already repaid more than $1 million in funds that were allegedly misappropriated.
The attention surrounding him due to this matter has not been good since hardly anyone ever brings up his NFL career and only sheds light on the possible fact that he may have stolen funds from needy people.
Back in 2022, Brett Favre talked about how he has been smeared in the media because of this situation.
“I have been unjustly smeared in the media,” Favre said in a statement provided exclusively to Fox News Digital. “I have done nothing wrong, and it is past time to set the record straight.
“No one ever told me, and I did not know, that funds designated for welfare recipients were going to the University or me. I tried to help my alma mater, USM, a public Mississippi state university, raise funds for a wellness center. My goal was and always will be to improve the athletic facilities at my University.
“State agencies provided the funds to Nancy New’s charity, the Mississippi Community Education Center, which then gave the funds to the University, all with the full knowledge and approval of other State agencies, including the State-wide Institute for Higher Learning, the Governor’s office, and the Attorney General’s office.
“I was told that the legal work to ensure that these funds could be accepted by the university was done by State attorneys and State employees.”
Unfortunately for Brett Favre, text messages between him and then-Mississippi Gov. Phil Bryant showed that he was taught how to write a funding proposal that would be accepted by the Mississippi Department of Human Services. The former NFL quarterback was allegedly looking for money to build a volleyball stadium at Southern Miss, where his daughter played volleyball.
