The 2019 NFL regular season ended just a few days ago and already some teams are beginning to fill up their vacant coaching positions.
One of the first teams to act is the Washington Redskins, who are reported to have hired former Carolina Panthers head coach Ron Rivera.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport broke the news on Twitter, then spoke about it during his appearance on Good Morning Football:
The Redskins finished the 2019 season with a 3-13 record, good enough for last place in the NFC East. They haven’t made the playoffs since 2015, and haven’t won a single playoff game since 2005.
In nine seasons as the Panthers head coach, Rivera put together a 76-63-1 regular season record, and a 3-4 playoff record in four postseason appearances. He his Panthers were 5-7 this season before he was let go by the team.
