It has been a very long 18 months for Washington Football fans since the 80+ year namesake of their beloved team was changed forever.
For years, team owner Daniel Snyder vowed he would never get rid of the Redskins, a name many Native Americans and others felt was racist.
Back in July 2020, Dan Snyder was facing pressure with the franchise’s stadium name in jeopardy and gear being removed from retail shelves, so he made the decision to announce the retirement of the Redskins name and logo following a lengthy review.
On Wednesday, the team finally dropped the news that the Washington Football Team would be named the ‘Commanders.’
