Wow! I don’t think anyone expected to wake up this morning and find out that Tom Brady has retired, but here we are.
The GOAT took to social media today to post a video announcing his retirement from the NFL by saying, “I’ll get to the point right away, I’m retiring for good.”
Brady acknowledged that this time it would be for real, thanking his family, friends, teammates and competitors for everything. He was noticeably emotional by the end of the 53 second video, which you can see below:
Of course, Tom Brady announced his retirement for the first time around this point last season. But that didn’t last long, as he announced his return roughly one month later.
This time, however, the future Hall of Fame quarterback says he’s done for good. If that’s the case, Brady finishes his career atop most of the all-time statistical categories for quarterbacks. And most importantly, he has an unprecedented seven Super Bowl rings, which have helped him earn the label as the greatest player to ever play the game.
Many believed Brady would join the San Francisco 49ers or Las Vegas Raiders for the 2023 season, but you can trash that idea for now. The GOAT is retired. It’s on to the next chapter of his life.
