According to Ian Rapoport, the Titans are signing RB Adrian Peterson to the practice squad.
Rapoport adds the plan is for Peterson to eventually be added to the active roster as they look to replace Derrick Henry.
Derrick Henry will have surgery Tuesday morning on his injured right foot, and coach Mike Vrabel said the Tennessee Titans are not putting a timeline on when he will return.
“Whenever that is, that’s when it’ll be,” Vrabel said. “I know that he’ll be around our team as soon as he can. I know that’s important to him. I know that’ll be important to our team. We will have to move on. We’ll have to move on, unfortunately, without him here in the short term and not look back.”
This past Sunday against the Colts — Henry finished with 28 carries for 68 yards and a 2.4-yard average, which was his lowest this season.
The 36-year-old Peterson played in all sixteen games in 2020 for the Detroit Lions and rushed for 604 yards on 156 carries (3.9 YPC) to go along with 12 receptions for 101 yards receiving and seven total touchdowns.
