Last offseason, the Tennessee Titans gave up a second- and fourth-round selection to the Atlanta Falcons for a sixth-rounder and future Hall of Fame receiver Julio Jones.
One offseason later, they’re set to cut their loses and release the seven-time Pro Bowler after a disappointing 2021 campaign.
The news has been broken by several sources, with the NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport confirming the report from ESPN’s Adam Schefter and Dianna Russini, while adding that this is a “post-June 1 designation.”
For the second season in a row, Jones missed seven games due to injury. His only season in Tennessee turned out to be by far the worst one of his career. He had 31 receptions for 434 yards, one touchdown, and an average of just 43.4 yards per game — all career-worsts for the sixth overall pick from 2011.
