It was just earlier on Monday when Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk stated that the Chicago Bears were in contract discussions with Saints QB Teddy Bridgewater on a deal that would make him their starting quarterback.
It never happened on Monday, but the team would announce on Tuesday that they informed Cam Newton’s agent to seek a trade and the writing seemed to be on the wall.
Hours later, the announcement came down that Bridgewater was headed to the Panthers.
The 27-year-old Bridgewater completed 67.8 percent of his passes for 1,384 yards, nine touchdowns and two interceptions in 2019. He also went an impressive 5-0 when Drew Brees went down with an injury.
He now gets a fresh new start to further prove himself.
