The Seattle Seahawks shocked many when they decided to move on from Pete Carroll after the 2023 season.
The 72-year-old was coming off a very respectable 9-8 season, and he helped the Seahawks make it to the postseason in 10 of his 14 years in the Emerald City — including two Super Bowl berths and one victory.
Apparently, the Seahawks were looking to follow up their youth movement on the field with a similar approach along the sidelines, as they have officially hired 36-year-old Mike Macdonald as their new head coach.
Macdonald earned the job after leading the Baltimore Ravens defensive unit during a season in which they led the league in yards and points against.
The deal is said to be six years in length, giving Macdonald plenty of time to develop all of the young talent that’s currently on Seattle’s roster.

Macdonald spent the last two seasons as the Ravens’ defensive coordinator. Prior to that, he worked one year as DC of the Michigan Wolverines.
