Tom Pelissero reported on Monday that Patriots QB Mac Jones suffered a ‘pretty severe’ high ankle sprain, tests confirmed.
Surgery is being talked about as a possibility.
On New England’s final offensive snap in a 37-26 loss to the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday, Jones was hit by defensive end Calais Campbell on a deep throw. Jones hopped off the field without putting weight on his left leg and was carried to the locker room.
The Patriots are scheduled to play the Packers in Week 4 and would likely turn to Brian Hoyer if Jones is unable to suit up.
Jones completed 22-of-31 passes for 321 yards with no touchdowns and three interceptions against Baltimore.
In 2022, Jones has appeared in three games for the Patriots and thrown for 465 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions.
