Adam Schefter reports that the Patriots are trading veteran DE Michael Bennett to the Cowboys for a seventh-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, which can turn into a sixth-round selection.
The Patriots recently suspended Bennett for one game due to conduct deemed detrimental to the team, so there was definitely some tension going on behind thescenes in terms of playing time.
Bennett issued the following statement to Jordan Schultz regarding the matter:
“On Friday, I had a philosophical disagreement with my position coach that has led to my suspension. I apologize to my teammates for any distraction this may have caused.”
The 33-year-old appeared in six games for the Patriots and recorded five tackles and 2.5 sacks.
