Christian McCaffrey has high hopes for 2021, but it ends in tragedy.
The Carolina Panthers announced RB Christian McCaffrey will miss the rest of the season with the ankle injury he picked up Sunday.
Scans showed the injury is severe enough to necessitate McCaffrey going on injured reserve. Because it’s his second time on IR this season, he is not eligible to return.
McCaffrey missed a total of 13 games last year due to various injuries. This injury means that McCaffrey will have played in a total of 10 games since signing a four-year, $64 million contract extension in 2020.
On Sunday, Mccaffrey ran 10 times for 35 yards.
In seven games this season, McCaffrey rushed for 442 yards and one touchdown on 99 carries while also hauling in 37 receptions for 343 yards and a score.
