It looks like Cam Newton’s time in Carolina is officially done.
According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the Panthers organization have given QB Cam Newton‘s agent permission to seek a trade.
It was just last month when reports stated the franchise was expected to move forward with Cam Newton as their starting quarterback in 2020 for now. Clearly things have changed in a big way.
Matt Rhule and his staff have been impressed with how Newton has attacked rehab for the surgically-repaired Lisfranc injury on his left foot, but he clearly wants his own guy as he begins his tenure as head coach.
Newton appeared in just 2 games in 2019, passing for 572 yards, no touchdowns and one interception.
