The National Football League is officially appealing the suspension of Deshaun Watson.
This effectively extends the league’s personal conduct case against Watson into next week, and puts the final determination into the hands of commissioner Roger Goodell.
After the NFLPA has had two days to respond to the league’s appeal of Robinson’s judgment, Goodell or his designee will respond with a written ruling that is definitive.
The outcome of that decision might take a variety of forms, including the league reconsidering the one-year, indefinite punishment it initially proposed to Robinson at her disciplinary hearing and initially offered to Watson in June.
Whatever the decision by the league in this appeal, the collective bargaining agreement states that it will “constitute full, final and complete disposition of the dispute.”
