Former Indianapolis Colts quarterback Gardner Minshew II is staying in the AFC, where he’ll once again engage in competition for a starting gig.
According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Las Vegas Raiders have signed Minshew to a two-year deal in free agency. Rapoport’s colleague Tom Pelissero added that it’s a $25 million deal, with $15 million of it coming in guaranteed money.
With rookie Anthony Richardson missing all but four games last season, Minshew was the Colts’ primary starting QB under first-year head coach Shane Steichen. Minshew completed 62.2 percent of his pass attempts for 3,305 passing yards (a career high) and 15 touchdowns against only nine interceptions.

Minshew spent his first two seasons with the Jacksonville Jaguars (2019 to 2020), excelling as a rookie by winning six of 12 starts while completing 60.6 percent of pass attempts for 3,271 yards and 21 touchdowns against only six interceptions.
After the Jaguars secured the first overall pick in 2021 to draft Trevor Lawrence, Minshew moved to Philadelphia to back up Jalen Hurts on the Eagles. Minshew started four games with the Eagles, throwing for 1,102 yards, seven touchdowns and four interceptions.
The Raiders have already released third-stringer Brian Hoyer and are expected to soon release Jimmy Garoppolo. With that, it’ll be competition between Minshew and second-year QB Aidan O’Connell for the QB1 job.
