Las Vegas is closed down. Words you thought you would never hear in your lifetime.
Little by little, Las Vegas casinos were starting to close their doors amid the coronavirus outbreak, but some remained vigilant to squeeze out more tourist dollars.
Nevada Gov. Steve Sisolak brought that all to an end when during a press conference when he ordered nonessential businesses, including casinos, to close for the next 30 days.
“From the start, the resort industry’s priority has been the health and safety of our employees, guests and fellow residents,” said Nevada Resort Association President Virginia Valentine. “We recognize Gov. Sisolak and his medical advisory team have given careful and thoughtful consideration to this decision, and we understand their actions are in the best interest of public health at this time.”
All gaming machines must be shut down by midnight. He then urged residents to, “Stay Home for Nevada.”
Sisolak could be heard getting really irritated at a reporter’s question, even mentioning Kevin Durant’s positive COVID-19 test.
