It finally happened.
On Saturday, Richard Deitsch reported that ESPN made it official when they stated Joe Tessitore, Booger McFarland will not return to the Monday Night Football booth.
As he stated, the replacements will be internal after the Worldwide Leader in Sports struck out on adding Tony Romo of CBS Sports and Super Bowl champion Peyton Manning.
At the end of April, ESPN named 28-year veteran Phil Dean as the new “Monday Night Football” producer, succeeding Jay Rothman, who had been in the role since 2006.
According to a report from Michael McCarthy of Front Office Sports last week, ESPN is considering four internal employees for their Monday Night Football coverage.
“At the top of the list are football analysts Louis Riddick and Dan Orlovsky, “SportsCenter” anchor-turned announcer Steve Levy, and former punter and fast-rising media personality Pat McAfee. Like nearly every company, ESPN and parent Disney have been hurt financially by the pandemic.”
