The Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl 58 parade on Wednesday afternoon quickly turned tragic, when two people opened fire that left one dead and 14 people injured.
At 3:02 p.m. EST, the Kansas City Police announced that shots had been fired around the Union Station area. 11 minutes later, the department announced that two armed suspects had been taken into custody.
Per Tom Winter of NBC News, federal law enforcement officials believe that the parade shooting was “criminal in nature” and doesn’t “appear to be” an act of terrorism.
We’ll be sure to provide more details on the investigation as they become available.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims, their loved ones and the people of Kansas City.
