How about it? The Detroit Lions freaking did it! They won a game! And in the most entertaining of fashions, no less.
The team got their first win of the season with a walk-off touchdown against the Minnesota Vikings at home today. After blowing a 14-point second half lead, it looked like the Lions were on the verge of snatching defeat from the jaws of victory when they allowed Kirk Cousins and the Vikes to take a 27-23 lead on a Justin Jefferson touchdown reception with under two minutes remaining.
But Jared Goff was determined to get his team their first W of the season, as he drove Detroit down the field before finding Amon-Ra St. Brown in the end zone for the walk-off touchdown.
Jared Goff has finally won a professional football game without Sean McVay as his head coach. He’s had a rough first season in MoTown, but maybe this 29-27 victory can help lift the spirits of the Lions players and inspire them to a few more wins down the final stretch.
