On Thursday, the Detroit Lions made the decision to release veteran DT Damon Harrison, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Harrison told reporters after the 2019 season that he wasn’t sure if he return in 2020.
“I got to talk it over with my family, try to seek some different options. But if I do walk away, I’m not ashamed, I don’t feel bad. Because I gave it everything I had, even when it wasn’t good enough,” Harrison said.
“I’ve given everything I have to every team I’ve played for. I don’t feel bad if (retirement is) the decision,” Harrison added. “I got a lot of thinking to do this offseason, I’m going to seek some different options. … But if I can’t be that guy I want to be, then I got to hang it up.”
Releasing Harrison frees up $6,718,750 of available cap space while creating $5 million in dead money.
