USC quarterback Caleb Williams has decided that he won’t throw at this year’s NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis.
Per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the overwhelming favorite to go first overall in this year’s NFL Draft will not throw at the NFL Scouting Combine, which starts today and runs through next Monday (March 4). Instead, Rapoport noted, Williams will throw at the Pro Day.
Barring any surprises, Williams will be the first overall pick of April’s 2024 NFL Draft. The Chicago Bears own the No. 1 pick in the draft, courtesy of the Carolina Panthers vi the blockbuster 2023 deal to move up for Bryce Young.
Williams threw for 3,633 yards and 30 touchdowns against five interceptions to go along with 11 rushing scores in his final season with the Trojans.
If Chicago decides to select Williams, they’ll most certainly trade 2021 first-round pick Justin Fields, who pieced together the best season of his young NFL career in 2023.
