Amari Cooper’s tenure in Dallas was expected to come to an end any time now, and it appears as though it has finally happened.
According to ESPN insider Adam Schefter, Cooper has been dealt to the Cleveland Brownsalong with a sixth-round pick in exchange for fifth- and sixth-round picks in the 2022 NFL draft.
It was previously said that Cooper could be had at a very large discount and it now looks like that was the truth all along. With really only a fifth round pick being given up by the Browns, you can’t help but wonder why other teams with the available cap room didn’t make a move for the Pro Bowl wideout.
The Browns were believed to be looking to completely overhaul their receiving corps. Last season they traded Odell Beckham Jr. to the Los Angeles Rams. Many figure it’s only a matter of time before Jarvis Landry is wearing another team’s jersey as well.
Most mock drafts had Cleveland pursuing one of the many intriguing wide receiver prospects in this year’s draft. While that may still be the case, it looks like the Browns have already filled their need for a new number one wideout.
