For the better part of two years, Colin Kaepernick has been out of the National Football League, not because he can’t play the game any longer, but because it seemed owners were steering clear of a PR nightmare by bringing him on board.
He filed a lawsuit against the league, alleging owners were colluding to keep him out of the NFL. His friend and Carolina Panthers safety Eric Reid would soon join on.
On Friday, the former 49ers QB and current Panthers safety dropped the lawsuit as things were settled behind closed doors.
Yahoo Sports was told on prior occasions Kaepernick would only withdraw his complaint if a lucrative financial settlement was reached between the quarterback and the NFL.
The league likely paid him a substantial amount to keep quiet and go away.
Reid will continue on to play with the Panthers after signing a 3-year deal.
