BREAKING: Cam Newton Tests Positive For COVID-19, Out For Sunday’s Game

Well, this came out of nowhere.

On Saturday, it was reported that Patriots QB Cam Newton tested positive for the coronavirus and would be out for Sunday’s game.

Patriots QB Cam Newton is being added to the COVID-19/reserve list, per me and @TomPelissero. He’s out for Sunday.

This news means that the Patriots will now either go with Brian Hoyer or Jarrett Stidham to start Sunday’s game.

Newton is completing 68.1 percent of his passes for 714 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions. His biggest impact has come in the run game, where’s tallied 149 yards (4.3 per carry) with four rushing touchdowns — the most among quarterbacks.
