It seemed like this was inevitable, and it has now become official. Cleveland Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield is demanding a trade from the team that drafted him first overall back in 2018.
The relationship has been rocky for some time now, and it hit a new low this offseason, when it was reported that Cleveland was among the final four teams in the running for Deshaun Watson. However, they lost out on Watson when he informed them that he would not be lifting his no-trade clause to go to Cleveland.
That left the Browns crawling back to Baker.
But, apparently, Baker isn’t interested in taking them back. He’s been quite vocal about his feelings through all of this, and moments ago, he made it known that he has no intentions of returning to the Browns next season, describing their relationship as “too far gone to mend.”
Days ago, Mayfield posted a letter to Twitter thanking the city of Cleveland for everything, while making it clear that he was unsure about his future.

Then it was reported that the Browns were done with Mayfield, no matter what happened with Deshaun Watson. ESPN’s Chris Mortensen also stated that the Browns were looking for “an adult” at quarterback.
And now this… I guess it’s no surprise that it has come to this. Not many quarterbacks would be interested in sticking by a team that was actively looking for his replacement while referring to him as a child when justifying their decision.
I mean, seriously? Did they really expect Baker to just ignore everything that’s happened over the last couple of weeks?
