It was the double doink heard across Chicago when the team called on kicker Cody Parkey to hit a game-winning field goal against the Philadelphia Eagles to send them to the divisional round.
Parkey hit the ball off the upright and then the crossbar and got promptly booed off the Soldier Field.
On Friday, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported that Parkey had played his last game as member of the Chicago Bears as the team was releasing him when the new league begins on March 13th.
Despite the release, Parkey will still be due $3.5 million in guaranteed 2019 money from the Bears in 2019.
Parkey converted 23 of 30 field goals (76.7 percent), including missing three of 10 kicks between 30-39 yards. He also missed three extra-point tries.
