That didn’t take long. Moments ago, it was being reported that the Atlanta Falcons and Indianapolis Colts were in discussions regarding a Matt Ryan trade. It was said that no deal was done at the moment, though.
At some point in the last few minutes that must have changed, as the Colts and Falcons have agreed to a deal. The Colts will get their new quarterback, while the Falcons get a third round pick.
Ryan began his career with the Falcons back in 2008, when the Falcons took him third overall in the draft. In 14 seasons with the team, he has 59,735 yards, 367 touchdowns, 170 interceptions, one MVP award, and a Super Bowl appearance. He’ll now join an Indianapolis team that fell one game short of making the postseason in 2021.
Speaking of those Colts, they were in need of a quarterback after trading away their 2021 offseason acquisition, Carson Wentz. Whether a 36-year-old Ryan is an upgrade over Wentz is up for debate.
