On Thursday, former Los Angeles Rams running back Todd Gurley shockingly became a free agent when it was announced that he was being released by the team…
But he wasn’t a free agent for long.
Less than 24 hours later, it’s being reported that the 2017 Offensive Player of the Year was signing a one-year contract with the Atlanta Falcons.
Gurley was drafted by the Rams with the 10th overall pick in 2015. He made three Pro Bowls with the team (in 2015, 2017 and 2018), but he had a down season in 2019 while dealing with nagging knee injuries. He had just signed a 4-year, $60-million contract with the Rams in 2018, making him the highest paid running back in the NFL (at the time).
As for the Falcons, they were in need of a running back after releasing their longtime starter, Devonta Freeman, earlier in the week.
