The Arena Football League is no more.
Last month, Arena Football was said to have shut down all local business operations and services for all six of its teams, potentially signifying the end of one of the longest-running indoor football operations in the United States due to financial difficulties.
It turns out it was all true as the Arena League official Twitter account dropped a statement that they were filing chapter 7 bankruptcy
According to the Times Union, a “lawsuit filed by an insurance carrier against the league, which provided for employee compensation coverage between 2009 and 2012,” led to the League’s current situation.
The Arena Football League has existed since 1987, which excludes a suspension of operations in 2009 because of financial issues.
The league had just four teams playing in 2018, but would go on to expand to six for much of the recent season and hoped to continue that growth.
