Justice is close to being served.
Britt Reid, the son of Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid, has formally been charged in connection with the car accident that injured a 5-year-old girl.
Britt has been charged with driving while intoxicated, a class D felony. A potential jail sentence can range anywhere from one to seven years.
“Former Chiefs assistant linebackers coach Britt Reid has been charged with driving while intoxicated in connection with a Feb. 4 crash that left a 5-year-old girl with a brain injury,” writes Dia Hall, via KSHB.com. “The Jackson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office announced Monday that Reid has been charged with DWI, a class D felony with a potential jail sentence of one to seven years. Prosecutors have requested a $100,000 bond.”
Britt Reid is no longer a member of Kansas City’s coaching staff.
The lawyer for the family of the 5-year-old girl named Ariel, who was critically injured in a Feb. 4 crash involving Reid hoped that he would be charged when he spoke out last month.

Tom Porto, the attorney representing the family in the incident, said that while he wants to be optimistic about Ariel’s condition he “can’t do that.”
“I know that we want good news, but the only good news right now is that Ariel is awake,” Porto said.
Britt Reid admitted that he had two to three drinks before the crash and also took Adderall by prescription.
Ariel is no longer in a coma, but she remains unresponsive and hospitalized, unable to walk.
