Alabama Crimson Tide cornerback Kool-Aid McKinstry will miss the NFL Combine after it was discovered that he has a right foot fracture.
On Friday, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported that doctors found a Jones fracture in McKinstry’s right foot during a medical evaluation. Rapoport added that though McKinstry will miss the Combine, he’ll work out at his Pro Day, undergo a procedure and should be fully recovered before training camp opens:
The 6-foot-1, 195-pound McKinstry is widely viewed as a top-five CB in a defensive back-heavy 2024 NFL Draft class. In his final season of college football, McKinstry had seven pass defenses and 32 total tackles.
McKinstry also saw ample playing time on the Alabama special teams unit during the 2022 season, racking up 332 punt return yards on 23 attempts. He saw 14 punt returns for 86 yards last season.
Over his three seasons at Alabama, McKinstry had 23 pass defenses and two interceptions. the 2023 First-team All-American and two-time First-team All-SEC helped the Crimson Tide reach the 2021 national championship game, where they fell to the Georgia Bulldogs.
McKinstry is widely projected to be a late-first round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. Unfortunately, him missing the combine will prevent him from being able to further bolster his stock as the draft inches closer.
