Welp, that didn’t last very long.
After nearly going bankrupt during the season, only to be saved by Carolina Hurricanes owner Tom Dundon, it appears as though the AAF is struggling once again, and this could be the final nail in their coffin.
According to ProFootballTalk’s Mike Florio, the leage is suspending all football operations and while they have not yet folded, it appears to be headed in that direction.
Dundon had previously stated that the league can not survive without the help of the NFL Players Association.
If the players union is not going to give us young players, we can’t be a development league,” Dundon said. “We are looking at our options, one of which is discontinuing the league.”
No word yet on whether or not the NFLPA plans to help out the AAF, but it has been reported that they are concerned about the possibility of players getting injured and violating the current CBA by sending players to play in the upstart league.
